Northern Nigeria — primarily Sokoto, Kebbi, Kano, and Kaduna states. Some imports from Niger Republic. The "Sokoto onion" is considered the best quality. All onions in Lagos travel 700+ km by road from the north.

Keep for cool, dry place wey get ventilation — no put for fridge (moisture go make am rot). Whole onion last 2-4 weeks for room temperature. Cut onion put for fridge, use am within 3 days.
