💡 Travel tips

Best time to comot
Before 6 AM only; otherwise avoid the peaks entirely
Avoid
All morning and evening peaks; realistically most of the working day
  1. This 35-40km cross-city trip better make you avoid am as daily commute — plan around am
  2. If you must go, comot before 6 AM; you go fight both the corridor and the bridge
  3. Expect to chain mode — no single through-line dey for trip wey long like this
  4. Single Bolt more comfortable but very expensive and e still dey stuck for traffic
  5. Ideal for remote/hybrid worker wey dey go in couple of days a week, no be five

Ajah to Ikeja na one of the most demanding commute for Lagos, roughly 35-40km cross-city haul from the far south-eastern edge of the Lekki corridor all the way to the mainland business capital. E combine the worst of two world: the single-road Lekki-Epe Expressway crush for the Ajah end, then Third Mainland Bridge and Ikorodu Road corridor for the mainland side. Off-peak, with luck, e dey 75-90 minutes; for rush hour e fit be genuinely brutal three hours each way.

No clean public-transport spine dey for trip wey long and multi-legged like this, so people wey must do am dey chain several mode — danfo up the corridor to Lekki, bridge-bound bus or long Bolt across, then onward toward Ikeja — or, if dem fit afford am, single ride-hailing car wey still dey sit for every jam. Either way the cost high, for naira for car or for hours and transfer for the bus relay. Very few people dey do this daily by choice.

The honest advice na to avoid to make Ajah to Ikeja daily commute at all. Na route for occasional trip, for remote worker wey dey go in twice a week, or for anybody wey fit shift their hours well and comot before 6 AM. For daily Ikeja job, Ajah cheap rent na false economy — the distance, the bridge and the corridor together make this one of the clearest case for Lagos where housing choice and commute just no fit.
