Eko Boys' High School Mushin, founded 1913, is one of the oldest secondary schools in Nigeria and a Lagos State-owned institution. Originally on Lagos Island, the school relocated to Mushin decades ago. Alumni include several first-generation post-independence Lagos professionals and civil servants. The state fee schedule keeps Eko Boys affordable — one of the cheapest routes to a WAEC certificate in Lagos with a serious academic tradition.
When Eko Boys was founded in 1913, Lagos was a colonial town of ~70,000 people and the school was established to educate the second generation of the emerging Lagos African professional class — clerks, tradesmen, small merchants who wanted their sons to enter public service or trade. The original site was on Broad Street on Lagos Island; the school relocated to Mushin in the mid-20th century as the Lagos residential population moved to the Mainland and the Broad Street site became prohibitively commercial. Alumni across the 110+ years include first-generation Nigerian barristers, medical officers, permanent secretaries, and mid-tier merchants across generations. Since incorporation into the Lagos State Ministry of Education network in the 1970s, Eko Boys has operated at state-schedule fees — currently one of the lowest fee bases of any structured secondary school in Lagos.

Admission process
JS1 entry via Lagos State placement examination held at end of primary school. State-quota placement applies for pupils resident in Lagos LGAs. Application fee negligible (~₦2,000). SS1 entry available for transfers.
JS1 entry is via the Lagos State Basic Education placement examination taken at the end of Primary 6. Pupils apply through their primary school; the state examination produces a merit list which allocates places to state secondary schools based on LGA of residence, sibling priority within the state network, and cut-off marks. There is no school-specific entrance examination. Application fee is minimal (~₦2,000 for documentation) and is paid to the state, not the school. SS1 transfer entry available for pupils moving between Lagos State schools with satisfactory JS3 results and a countersigned source-school transfer document. Late transfers within the state network are processed monthly.

The Mushin campus occupies 4 acres of state-owned educational land, developed in phases from the 1960s. The academic blocks were most recently refreshed during the 2019-2022 Lagos State schools whiteboard-and-repaint programme, which upgraded blackboards to whiteboards, repainted classrooms, and refreshed the assembly hall. Facilities include three two-storey academic blocks (junior secondary, senior secondary, and administrative), two science laboratories (integrated science and chemistry), an assembly hall used for weekly assemblies plus WAEC examinations for the wider Mushin state-school cluster, a small library, a computer room (updated with 20 desktop workstations in 2021), and outdoor sports facilities including a football pitch and a basketball court. Power runs on the Ikeja Electric grid with state-provided generator backup for essential facilities but not classroom-wide.
