The Ikeja-to-VI commute is Lagos at its most punishing. At 22km, it should take 30 minutes. In reality, the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way โ Ikorodu Road corridor is the most congested stretch of road in West Africa. During peak hours, the 22km journey regularly takes 90-150 minutes by car โ a fact that has reshaped Lagos real estate, pushing Ikeja professionals to rent on the Island despite paying 3-4x more. BRT is the only sane option: โฆ500-โฆ700 on a dedicated lane that bypasses the chaos, delivering you to CMS in 40-65 minutes. The Red Line rail (Ikeja โ Yaba โ Oyingbo) now offers a second option โ faster than BRT but requires a transfer at Oyingbo for the Island. The smart Ikeja commuter uses BRT or rail 90% of the time and keeps Bolt for emergencies only.
