Ogudu to Victoria Island is a well-placed mainland-to-Island commute, roughly 15km that leans on Ogudu's handy access to the Third Mainland Bridge via the Ojota and Oworonshoki approaches. Off-peak it is a tidy 25-35 minutes; the bridge and the Ozumba Mbadiwe/Falomo approaches on the Island side are the deciding factors, and in the morning crush the trip can stretch to well over an hour as the whole mainland pours toward the bridge.
Ogudu's advantage is that it sits close to the bridge on-ramps, so the mainland leg is short and the journey is mostly bridge plus Island. Danfo runs from the Ogudu Road and Ojota stops toward Obalende and CMS for a few hundred naira, usually via an Ojota or bridge-side change, and keke covers the Ogudu-end links. Bolt and Uber are a comfortable, moderate option for the direct trip and popular with the Ogudu GRA professional crowd, though bridge-hour surge applies as everywhere.
As with every bridge commute, this one is won before 7 AM. Clear the Ogudu on-ramp and the bridge early and Victoria Island is a quick, easy run; hit the bridge at 8 AM and you join the entire mainland in the same queue. For Ogudu residents — especially in the quieter GRA — the proximity to the bridge makes this one of the more efficient mainland bases for an Island job, provided the early-start discipline holds.
The evening return is the harder direction: from 5 PM the Island empties toward the bridge and the Ozumba approach backs up, so leaving VI before 4:30 PM or after 8 PM saves the worst of it. For an Ogudu resident, pairing an early departure with an early finish turns this into one of the smoother bridge commutes going.
