Ikorodu has the best natural water in Lagos. Shallow fresh aquifers (30-50m) produce clean, drinkable water with minimal treatment. Ikorodu, on the northern edge of Lagos, has one clear water advantage: as an outer, less-congested area, boreholes are viable and drilling is generally cheaper than in the crowded inner city, with a reasonable water table in many parts. The public utility is no more reliable here than anywhere else, so self-supply is the rule, with tanker delivery covering renters and new builds not yet drilled. Groundwater quality varies across the township's spread, so a filter for drinking and a good storage tank remain standard advice. Because Ikorodu is developing quickly, drillers and tanker services are readily available and keenly priced. For a household putting down roots in Ikorodu, water is one of the more affordable problems to solve properly from the start.
