In Ogudu, as across much of this stretch of the mainland, public pipe-borne water from the state utility is unreliable, so households provide their own. Most homes and estates run on a borehole — a one-off drilling, pump and tank cost that then delivers years of near-free water — which is why drilling is the default answer for anyone settling here rather than renting short-term.
Proximity to the lagoon is the thing to watch. Closer to the water, boreholes can draw slightly brackish or iron-tinged water that stains and tastes off, so a simple filtration setup is a common addition; further inland the groundwater is generally cleaner. Either way almost nobody drinks straight from the tap — bottled or sachet water, or a proper drinking filter, is the norm for the kettle. For renters and short stays, tanker delivery fills the gap: a truckload pumped into your tank on demand, dearer per litre than a borehole but with no upfront cost.
