NEPA Tariff Bands — What Band A, B, C Really Mean

In April 2024, NEPA reformed the tariff system — the old single rate split into 5 bands based on how many hours of supply your feeder actually delivers. The reform meant Band A customers (those getting 20+ hours daily) now pay 3-4× more than before. The trade-off is real: reliable power at a premium price, or cheap power that only arrives for a few hours per day.

350 kWh/month is typical Lagos 3-bedroom usage. Bill excludes fixed charges.
Three ways to confirm your band: (1) Check your latest electricity bill — the band is printed top right. (2) Call your DisCo with your meter number: EKEDC 08039054444, IKEDC 07000453234. (3) Match your area to the published Band A feeder list — most of Ikoyi, VI, Lekki Phase 1, Ikeja GRA, and Banana Island are Band A; the wider Lagos average is Band B or C.
If your supply drops below your band''s minimum hours for 7 consecutive days, your DisCo must downgrade you to a lower band (and refund the differential for the affected period). In practice, complaints go through the DisCo''s feeder-performance system. NERC also accepts complaints if the DisCo refuses.
