Atlantic Hall was founded 1989 as one of the very first Lagos-region secondary schools designed explicitly on the UK-style residential boarding model for both boys and girls. The Epe location was chosen for its 35 acres of buildable land plus its distance from Lagos-metro distractions — a deliberate design choice that has shaped the school's culture for four decades. The co-educational structure was unusual for the late 1980s Nigerian boarding scene, which was dominated by single-sex schools. Twenty-plus years on, Atlantic Hall serves as the co-ed alternative to Day Waterman (British curriculum, Ogun) and Corona (Christian, Agbara) in the mid-market boarding tier. The Old Atlantic Hall Association is active with reunion weekends every two years at the Epe campus.

Atlantic Hall admits via competitive entrance examination held twice annually. The exam covers English, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
