Banana Island is the only Lagos neighborhood with genuinely independent water infrastructure. The island's estate management operates its own water treatment plant, processing brackish groundwater through industrial-grade reverse osmosis before distributing to residences. Water costs are bundled into the substantial service charges (₦5-10M/year) that Banana Island residents pay. For the ultra-wealthy families living here, water is one of the few Lagos problems that money has actually solved.
