Yaba to Murtala Muhammed Airport is a short, entirely mainland run of about 12km up Ikorodu Road and Agege Motor Road toward Ikeja, where both the local and international terminals sit. Off-peak it is a comfortable 25-35 minutes; the risk is not distance but the notorious airport-road and Oshodi congestion, which can turn a half-hour trip into an anxious hour when you have a flight to catch.
For airport runs, most Yaba travellers skip the danfo relay and take a Bolt or Uber straight through — the fare is moderate for the distance and the certainty is worth it with luggage and a departure time. Budget travellers do chain danfo via Oshodi to the airport junction and finish on a short keke or bus, which is far cheaper but leaves you exposed to every traffic snarl along the way. Airport taxis exist at the terminal but are the priciest option by far.
The rule for this route is to buy yourself a buffer. The Oshodi and airport-approach traffic is unpredictable, so for an international flight leave Yaba three-plus hours before departure and two hours for a domestic hop, more in the evening rush or the rains. A calm early trip up Ikorodu Road beats a white-knuckle dash every time — this is one route where paying for a car and leaving early is money well spent.
Night and early-morning flights are the easy case: after 9 PM and before 6 AM the airport road is clear, and Yaba to the terminals is a genuine 20 minutes. It is the daytime and evening departures that demand the big buffer, so if you can book an early or late flight, this run stops being stressful at all.
